Smell Well

I’m looking for a new fragrance – something I could consider my ‘signature’ scent. How do I go about finding one?
Micheal Edwards, author of Fragrances of the World says:
Ask yourself, what fragrances have I worn that I love, make a list and go into a department store, or Life Pharmacy and ask to see my book Fragrances Of The World. Check the index at the back and make a note of the family to which each of your favourite scents belong. Generally speaking if you have three or four favourite fragrances then two will fall into one family. From there you simply select a few fragrances from that family and try them all – be adventurous.
Perfumes are like wine, you either prefer a sauvignon blanc or chardonnay. My book categorises perfumes into fragrance families making it a lot easier for people to find a new fragrance that will appeal based on what they’ve previously loved.
Incidentally the best time of the day to test fragrances is either early morning or in the afternoon and for women, the sense of smell is most acute around her monthly cycle (natures way of protecting her from eating bad food that could damage an unborn fetus should she have fallen pregnant.)
