survival guide to a girls’ night out

girls night outMy Good Morning clip about things to pack in your purse when heading out for a night on the town.

1. Lipstick (can also be used as blusher and adds much needed colour to your face)

Long lasting lipsticks are good - try the new formulations as they are less drying than previous ones. Use a balm on lips first like Lucas Papaw to get some much needed moisture or finish off with a gloss. Long lasting colours are great when you’re wearing a dark or bright lippie and don’t want to be left with a telltale tide mark.

2. Powder or blotting tissues to reduce the shine

3. Cotton buds dipped in eye makeup remover (or you can buy ready made ones from M.A.C) to get rid of mascara debris that might find it’s way under the eye

4. hand cream - if you can find a tube small enough

Don’t take your whole makeup bag and remember that you don’t want to redo your WHOLE face - just touch ups… don’t bother with adding more shadow to eyes etc… not a good look when the hand becomes less steady as the night wears on.

I have a gorgeous MAC lipstick palette that is always in my bag…I often wear 3 or 4 different colours a night! Eyedrops are also a must for a big night when things start to go cross-eyed. Last but not least would be Bandaids for those pesky blistered feet!

I always have to have Eclipse Mints in my bag - nothing worse than having garlic at dinner and tasting/smelling like it for the rest of teh night! And of course the requisite lip gloss/balm.

Bobby pins - if your hair starts to annoy you and not do what it is meant to. I always have MAC lipglass in my bag too… just clear. Don’t need a mirror to touch up.

I am definitely going to try out your cotton bud tip. Great idea! Since I am prone to a little shine I always take a sample size face powder or some powder sheets with me. And of course my lipstick, which doubles as a blusher.

I really like to take a concealer pen a la Touche Eclat to brighten up under eyes, and my tiny worn down M.A.C Fascinating Eye Kohl to make me look wide awake in the wee hours. They are both super slim so fit nicely too. Of course the lipstick is a must, I love M.A.C mattes.
