simple & stylish

This is why A-list actresses are said to have that X factor - when they make dressing for something as significant as a film premiere look as easy as dressing for a dinner out with a friend. Less is more!
Here’s the divine Diane Kruger wearing a Balmain dress with simple/chic hair and smoking makeup at the premiere of her latest film Inglourious Basterds.
She makes it look so effortless. Like she just decided to go out at the last minute and scraped her hair to one side and blackened her eyes with some kohl. I love that she’s kept it simple - the focus is on her eyes, her lips are nude in colour (not truly nude as that would require NO lipstick and no star would dare venture onto a red carpet with no lipstick), her skin looks healthy and glowy, and her jewellery is at a minimum (in fact doesn’t exist).
In celebrity world, looking like your hair or makeup is ‘natural’ usually means a team of 50 million people have been working on you all day long. So no doubt to get Diane’s hair looking like she just brushed it and walked out the door, some effort has been applied. Translation - she really hasn’t just brushed her hair and walked out the door. This probably took an hour or two to do. To recreate her hair be prepared to blow dry your hair straight and avoid using straighteners as they will only sharpen the ends. See how hers look soft? Use a styling product to smooth the hair, blow dry, then set with hair spray. Easier said than done right. The problem with drying hair, is having the patience to see the job through from start to finish. But if you do it properly, section off areas of your hair and dry, dry, dry until dry, your hair should stay in place and not suck up the moisture from the air and turn into a big frizz ball. Hairspray helps. But not too much. Think soft ends. Not helmet head. Oh heck - just call a salon and book in for a blow dry. Take this picture with you and say, ‘please make me look like i just brushed my hair to one side and then walked out the door’. Like I did it myself. Like Diane clearly did.
Let’s have a look at the WHOLE outfit. Perfect. Just what I would’ve worn.
