back to matte

back to matte

The trend collections are one of my favourite things to do ever. EVER. It always makes me want to be a makeup artist. I love seeing the backstage footage from the international collections and I love hearing about what the artists did to create the looks we come to love or hate in the months after.

There are so many notes in my notebook… so many stories to follow… but one of the biggest trends was a return to matte. See you later glossy, shiney lids and skin. [read more by clicking through]

dip dye

dip dye

I took the plunge this week and made a drastic change to my hair colour. I’d been contemplating this look for quite some time and I’ve always flirted with the idea of going brunette in winter. So here I am… dip dyed…. two toned… Mobeen and the girls at Stephen Marr Newmarket took me darker in steps. My blonde hair was quite a cool, icy blonde (see the before pic) and so they had to warm it up. I thought I could keep my ends and just go darker at the roots but it doesn’t work that way. What do you think? I love it!

BEAUTY GOSS IS 1 YEAR YOUNG!

BEAUTY GOSS IS 1 YEAR YOUNG!

It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since Beauty Goss launched but today’s the day it first went live 12 months’ ago. It’s been fun. It’s been hard work. There have been some ups and downs but boy it’s been great. When I look at the wonderful people I’ve profiled for the weekly Beauty Spot, the great comments (both good and bad) from readers willing to share their points of view and all the products that I and my girls have tried and tested… it’s been a really successful year. The craziest thing is that this feels like it’s just the beginning. There’s so much more to write about, review and do. I’ve got plenty of ideas to action. Plus, I’ve got a party to plan!

Sex and the City 2

Sex and the City 2

I finally got to see the movie Sex and the City 2 tonight and I have to say I really enjoyed it. It’s not as fast-paced, witty or poignant as the tv series was; the fashion had some definite hits and misses; and the story line was weak BUT it was still a visual feast, still generated a few good chuckles and is a thoroughly entertaining film to see.

Hello there!

I’m back. Finally. After the deadline from hell (I thought it was never going to end. I thought I was stuck in a twilight zone in a constant state of deadline - never to finish), I am finally able to start writing here as well.

You’ve also got to be careful what you wish for. I was really keen to get back into fulltime work and then when I did, I never had time to see my daughter. That’s changing and I think I am able to find a balance but just remember that the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. You’ve also got to remember that balance is the key to life. That way you won’t get rundown and sick like I did in the past week post deadline.

Hello! Hello!

Hello! Hello!

Hello dear friend,

Sorry, I’ve been quite slack lately, my days are very busy and my nights are… well busy too. And when I’m not working like crazy trying to get my first issue out, I’m desperately trying to spend some quality time with my daughter.

Daylight savings has finished, it’s getting cooler, the leaves have turned brown and are now littering the ground, it’s time to fish out jackets and jumpers, I have a new job, it’s full time. Oh wait, YES, I HAVE A NEW JOB. Which means that I might be a bit more sporadic with my beauty goss postings while I settle in - I know! That sucks… I’ll try not to let it affect me too much but chances are it probably will (sorry).

body butter time

body butter time

It was way too hot in summer to even consider slapping on a cream as thick as body butter, but now that the temperatures have dipped feel free to slather it on.

Vaseline’s new Cocoa Butter smoothing body butter is a welcome addition to my daily routine not only because it stops my skin from going white with dryness, but because I’m also a serious chocoholic.

party princess

We woke up to a BEAUTIFUL day, perfect weather for a picnic by the beach. Then the phone rang. It was the Parks people warning me that Long Bay Reserve, where I’d booked and paid for a picnic spot for the party, was closed due to the impending Tsunami warning created by the earthquake in Chile. Closed until further notice.
