Hair Saviour

kstseornuitOne of the things I always do while toiling away on the computer is fidget - especially when I’m thinking hard about what to write. I uncross and cross my legs about ten times and wriggle my bottom around on my seat, I gnash my teeth together (when things are really tough)and sometimes I apply gloss, lick it off and apply it again. I also study my fingernails as if the answer is somehow there and I play with my hair - I twirl it around my fingers, inspect the ends and fiddle with my hair tie. According to an old employer I also sigh.

Anyway back to the hair bizzo because that’s what inspired this post - yesterday as I was twirling and fidgeting with it I realised that it was in crispy condition - not that soft, silky texture that it usually is. Considering the past two weeks it has been through the ringer with sun exposure, sea salt, chlorine and probably not as many washes as it could have had… I knew I had to take action.

I applied Kerastase Nutritive Oleo-Relax Nuit to my freshly washed and towel dried hair and left it over night. I woke up with still slightly damp hair - but soft hair with a lovely fragrance. The best bit - it’s an anti frizz and my hair is not the fluffy monster it usually is. A quick run through with the ghds and an extra scrunch with Oleo Relax Serum and it’s looking pretty good.

It does feel heavier than usual though, which would be the silicone. According to the press release this product has, ‘a new generation of controlling silicone: Gives control and 72 hour anti-frizz protection. It restores the surface of the hair fibre.’

Alot of people freak out when they hear about silicone in hair products - but silicone isn’t always a bad thing and it’s pretty much unavoidable. It’s what gives hair that silky soft feeling and it is supposed to wash out with a shampoo. I’m not anti silicone at all - I want my hair to be silky soft and I like my fly aways weighed down.

This masque can be applied to damp or dry hair and I’m keen to see if using it on dry hair does anything different. You can use this product 2-3 times a week so after it’s next wash I’ll do the dry version.

Has anyone tried this?

How’s your hair faring after the Summer break? Or for those in the wintry Northern Hemisphere has the cold air sucked your locks dry?

Kerastase Nutritive Oleo Relax Nuit is $NZ62 and available at salons.
