Smell This: YSL Parisienne
November 15, 2009
That Kate Moss stars in the campaign for Yves Saint Laurent’s newest fragrance, Parisienne, as the perfect embodiement of a Parisienne woman proves that even diamonds with rough edges are lauded for their striking appeal. The campaign plays on the mystery of a woman in Paris, walking through the city centre alone at first light. What she did the night before, where she ended up and why she is strolling home alone is anyone’s guess. Think strong, sexy but ultimately mysterious - the power is all hers. She is free. ‘You were not born in Paris but Paris adopts you…’
Parisienne
centres around Damas Rose with violet, peony and blackberry before deepening into patchouli, musk and sandalwood.
Parisienne is on counter now. EDP 30ml $99, EDP 50ml $135, EDP 90ml $175.
While we couldn’t take it to the streets of Paris to see what the French think we did the next best thing by visiting La Cigale markets, Parnell. Here’s what was said:
1. Jill Dawson, ‘At first it reminds me a little of the Stella fragrance - it’s really nice.’
2. Louise Colenbrander, ‘It’s got a classic feel to it - I can imagine this lasting a long time and being quite popular. It’s really fresh - I’d wear it during the day.’
3. Elizabeth Bayliss, ‘It’s sweet and soft.’
