chop chop

I’ve never been one to hack away at other people’s hair - I’ve never had the desire. I’m not qualified in the slightest and wouldn’t want the blame for something horrific to happen (which it would). Because let’s face it - as easy as a hair stylist makes it look, snip snip, it’s not. There’s a lot of skill required and you can certainly tell the difference between a good mop-chop and a bad.

So why did I think it was a good idea to cut my daughter’s fringe?

winter…

winter…

I don’t know about you, but I’m well over winter.

The past couple of weeks have been particularly trying - we’ve had a sick child for the past 10 days which never bodes well in the sleep department. Needless to say we’ve experienced sleep deprivation as though we’ve got a newborn.

The calendar seasons suggest that spring is on its way, September marks the turn in weather. Maybe then we’ll get to put the new summer clothes to use. Until then they lurk on coat hangers, tempting us with their pretty colours and cuts… willing a warmer season to hurry up.

I took the plunge this week and made a drastic change to my hair colour. I’d been contemplating this look for quite some time and I’ve always flirted with the idea of going brunette in winter. So here I am… dip dyed…. two toned… Mobeen and the girls at Stephen Marr Newmarket took me darker in steps. My blonde hair was quite a cool, icy blonde (see the before pic) and so they had to warm it up. I thought I could keep my ends and just go darker at the roots but it doesn’t work that way. What do you think? I love it!

Sex and the City 2

Sex and the City 2

I finally got to see the movie Sex and the City 2 tonight and I have to say I really enjoyed it. It’s not as fast-paced, witty or poignant as the tv series was; the fashion had some definite hits and misses; and the story line was weak BUT it was still a visual feast, still generated a few good chuckles and is a thoroughly entertaining film to see.

Hello there!

I’m back. Finally. After the deadline from hell (I thought it was never going to end. I thought I was stuck in a twilight zone in a constant state of deadline - never to finish), I am finally able to start writing here as well.

You’ve also got to be careful what you wish for. I was really keen to get back into fulltime work and then when I did, I never had time to see my daughter. That’s changing and I think I am able to find a balance but just remember that the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. You’ve also got to remember that balance is the key to life. That way you won’t get rundown and sick like I did in the past week post deadline.

Daylight savings has finished, it’s getting cooler, the leaves have turned brown and are now littering the ground, it’s time to fish out jackets and jumpers, I have a new job, it’s full time. Oh wait, YES, I HAVE A NEW JOB. Which means that I might be a bit more sporadic with my beauty goss postings while I settle in - I know! That sucks… I’ll try not to let it affect me too much but chances are it probably will (sorry).

We woke up to a BEAUTIFUL day, perfect weather for a picnic by the beach. Then the phone rang. It was the Parks people warning me that Long Bay Reserve, where I’d booked and paid for a picnic spot for the party, was closed due to the impending Tsunami warning created by the earthquake in Chile. Closed until further notice.

My preparation for my daughter’s first birthday is probably way over the top but it is one of those ‘once in a lifetime events’. That’s what I keep telling myself. Truth is, she’ll never remember it but it’s not really about her, is it?

I love Twitter. Love it. I love reading other people’s tweets and I love the conversations I have with people who I wouldn’t normally be able to converse with. I love getting the news feeds from newspapers, bloggers and websites with updated posts and stories. I always hear world news first on Twitter, than before I read it online or see it on TV. If you were going to ask a question to the world right now - what would it be?
